May 5, 2010  WHTA votes to collect signatures for a tax referendum after the Town Council passed a 2.24% tax increase with its $216.7 million budget, bringing the mill rate to 38.38 mills

January 12, 2010 - WHTA is Having a Contest! – The announcement was even carried on NBC and also sent out to residents on the town Listserv– and here is the press release.

January 2010 – West Hartford union contracts are coming up for renewal, and with 28 of the state's 169 municipalities having some version of less-expensive 401(k)-type plans for workers, instead of increasingly costly traditional pensions, there seems to be some movement into a new way for West Hartford to deal with pensions.
